Hi there, it's Jon. Glad to be here, it seems it's been ages since the last time I wrote in a forum, now that social media is king! I discovered this forum via the twitter account, as I am really active on twitter nowadays. I work at an spanish indie studio and we are preparing a kickstarter for a game that's a tribute of early Neo Geo games: that's how I found the twitter account and thus the forums!
Anyway I still remember back in the day when the first Neo Geo games started to appear on the arcade venues I used to frequent when I was like 15 or so. I was a big fan of 2D fighters (mostly SF2), so you can imagine... The games I played most were Art of Fighting, World Heroes and KOF'95, being AoF the one I mastered the most. I started playing because of the huge sprites and scaling effects but stayed for the strategy and the Haoh Shoukou Ken . I also played Blue's Journey a lot, along with games such as Soccer Brawl or Magician Lord, and specially Puzzle Bobble 2 and Magical Drop 3, as I also love puzzle games. My elder brother played Alpha Mission II and Super Sidekicks like a pro back then and I liked to stay next to him watching him playing. I think it's legit to say that arcade venues were the first youtube/twitch after they even existed .
Nowadays I own a Neo Geo CD with an AES stick, also an MVS for my jamma arcade machine with a couple of cartridges (Super Sidekicks and Metal Slug). I had an AES with some carts but sadly I needed to sell it a couple of years ago. A Neo Geo Pocket Color with some games closes the list! Not much of a collector as you can read.
Well, I think this is mostly all. It is great to find a community like this in 2021!
Sorry for my perfect spanglish and hope to contribute on this community!
